Saxon Summer XX will be held September13-15, 2024

Join the Shire of Rivenvale for Saxon Summer XXI. It’s a fun casual event, perfect for camping and catching up with friends, where armored combat and classes abound. Site opens at 10am Friday, and closes at noon Sun.
Troll Hours:
Friday.: 3:00pm – Dark (early arrivals are permitted, our setup hours will be 10:00am – 3:00pm)
Saturday: 9:00am – 2:00pm
Note: Alcohol is permitted on the site, in your campsite only. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and will result in eviction without refund.
Due to the primitive nature of the site, it is not handicap accessible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Registration:
Two Nights Camping: $20 (Paid directly to Shire)
One Night Camping: $15 (Paid directly to Shire)
Day Trip (No Camping): $10 (Paid directly to Shire)
Minor: Free, must be accompanied by an adult
Family Maximum of $40

Feast:
$20 per person, $12 for 12 and under with a 50 person cap.
We will be having a pig roast and potluck side dishes.
Due to the primitive nature of the site, we cannot accommodate specific dietary needs.

Members must bring their card to receive the member rate.
Pre-registration is not needed for camping. Minors cannot be admitted without an adult.

Classes
The Shire of Rivenvale is proud to be hosting Mistress Keely the Tinker to be on site doing a lampwork bead demonstration on Saturday. Please feel free to join her in an open discussion of glass work throughout the SCA time period. Stations will be available to try your hand at making beads of your own!

Friday:

9am – inspections, pick-ups, and authorizations
10am – Grand Melee
11am – Shield and Spear double elimination tournament **prize for the winner**
1pm – Resurrection Battle limited engagement team melee (grand melee winners will captain sides)*
3pm – Dog Ball
*There is space for a woods battle, should there be interest

Regional fighter practice
Singles, training, melee scenarios

Seating is extremely limited, please plan to bring your own.
Merchants
There is plenty of room for outdoor booths. We do NOT charge any merchant fees! You pay only what everyone else pays for entrance to the event. Sorry but we cannot provide tables, etc. at this site. There is also no water/electric. You will need to provide your own complete setups. You must R.S.V.P by contacting the Event Steward with your needed land size requirement.
Site Conditions
This is a totally outdoor site. While there are no stairs to traverse, there are also limited roads/paths. All activities are in a field which may be rough terrain and the conditions will vary with the weather. Due to the primitive nature of the site, it is not handicap accessible. Ice available for sale on site, $5 per bag.
