Winter Wassail (formerly known as “Winter Revel”) is a free event and a great way to introduce new-comers and friends to the SCA.

Period Garb is required and feast gear is strongly recommended. Please bring a period food item or beverage to share, and include a card with your ingredient list. Alcoholic beverages are permitted. There is a sink, stove, microwave, and refrigerator on site and available for our use.

We are creating a period holiday environment, so please make every attempt to use period dress, feast gear, and food. If you need a period recipe, please contact the Event Steward (see below).

Musical instruments, games, and stories are welcomed. And don’t forget your dancing shoes! We will also be conducting a Rummage Sale to offset the cost of the site. If you have used clothes, feast gear, books, craft supplies, etc., this is the time to find it a new home. Items should be related to SCA interests. We will have a jar out to collect the money. It’s a great chance for new attendees to find bowls and plates – something we always have need of at this event!

Beer/Mead Exchange

Attention all brewers, vintners, and imbibers! We will be conducting our THIRD ANNUAL Rivenvale Brew Exchange. Anyone (21 and over) who wants to participate should bring 12 bottles of their favorite brew, whether made yourself or purchased. Ideally, please select a type that you enjoy but isn’t an everyday drink, so people can leave with new drinks to try.

All participants will select one or two of each type (depending on the number of participants), and so will leave Winter Wassail with twelve varied brews (unless they drink or share any during the feasting).

Here is the recipe booklet that we compiled last year. You can cut it in half down the middle, then put the left half on top of the right half and staple.
