August Business Meeting, 8/11/15

Officer’s Reports:

Exchequer (al-Sayyid Abu Shadi Da’ud ibn Zahir):
Things are going well, we have a balance of $1,725.55 in the treasury.  The report due at the end of last month has been submitted.  The insurance for the equestrian activities for our upcoming Saxon Summer has been paid.  Also, we have bought two shire archery bows at Pennsic, at the cost of $30.00 apiece.  This is a modern type bow, and set up so that it can be used by someone who is either right or left handed.  It has a 25 pound draw.  The reason we purchased these is so that people can try archery without having to invest in equipment up front, to determine if it is something that they would be interested in pursuing.  We will also be getting two dozen arrows to go along with the shire bows.

Chatelain (Katherine Coscombe):
Katherine is now our new Chatelain.  We are always welcoming of new people, everyone is welcome at any of our events or meetings.  If interested in learning more about our shire and activities, contact Katherine for more information (

Herald (Frøkn McCoinneach):
Lord Frøkn wanted to remind anyone that even though there may not be specific Heraldry sessions scheduled on the Shire schedule, he is available at any time to assist with the selection of names, and device development/submission.  Please contact him at any meeting or any day until 9:00 pm at his home telephone listed on the officer page.

Minister of Arts & Sciences (Lady Beatrix):

Competition is by populace vote.  Contact Lady Beatrix if you are planning to enter something into the competition.

Our website is current with the information for Saxon Summer.  Our Shire website is located at If you have any questions on any of the web content, or wish to make any suggestions for additions, feel free to contact Lord Hrafnsson or any officer at any time.

Thrown Weapons Lieutenant (The Honorable Lord Rickard de Als):
Lord Frøkn completed his course and exam at Pennsic and is now a warranted Thrown Weapons Marshall in addition to Honorable Lord Rickard and Lord Hakon.  With three marshals in our Shire, it will open up more staffing options for Thrown Weapons for our events and meetings.  (Please see the meeting schedule to see when we are having this set up at our meetings.) If you are planning on getting your own equipment, THL Rickard will be happy to help you select the appropriate equipment.

Seneschal (The Honorable Lady Genevieve de Saint-Malo):
The Seneschal passed around an attendance list which all who are present were invited to sign.
